What My Clients Are Saying

I regularly attend Joanne’s Restorative yoga classes at Breathe, where she has takes her knowledge and intuition and applies them to all that attend.  Her enthusiastic, positive approach and energy, with high levels of motivation inspire her students.  She is thoughtful and is able to individualize for each of her students.  Her gentle approach, and supportive manner, creates a calm, healing atmosphere.  Her classes are one of the things I look forward to every week

I was recently in a car accident and suffered injuries that forced me to

have bladder surgery. My recovery was significantly faster than the

timetable the doctors had given me and I am know in better shape than I was

before the accident. I am convinced that it is because I began doing yoga

every day during my rehabilitation and began attending Joanne's neurogenic

tremoring class twice a week. The tremoring has not only helped release

tension around the area of my surgery but has helped dramatically with the

mental and emotional aspects of recovering from a horrific accident. I am

truly grateful that I incorporated these practices into my recovery and

cannot imagine how differently things could have been if I did not.

I have wanted to experience a TRE workshop with Joanne for awhile but the idea of involuntary tremors in my body seemed a lot different then what I am used too. From the start of the workshop I could tell Joanne's knowledge about stress relief was both academic ( physical reactions of the body) and from personal experiences

My experiences with TRE have been fascinating and I can't explain them.  All of a sudden my legs began shaking; completely on their own!  It was a bit like an out of body experience...  Even more interesting was watching other people in the room.  One person near me had their limbs flailing around completely.  I can't wait to learn more about what's happening and why it's happening...what a mystifying concept it is!

I've had the pleasure of attending many of Joanne's yoga classes.  In fact, she was my very first yoga experience.  I'm so grateful that she was because her compassion and warmth were exactly what I needed.  She is so aware of what each of her students may be needing and so adept at meeting them exactly where they are.  She's also knows a ton but still always encourages you to listen to your own body and intuition.  It was in her classes that I learned to start honoring my own experience and feelings.  And what a huge gift that has been.  She creates such a safe, nurturing space, which makes deep healing possible.  I'll never forget the time she sat and breathed with me after a class that I got triggered in.  She cares deeply about each and every student and will always go the extra mile to help them.  I've got endless love and gratitude for this amazing teacher

I feel like TRE was hugely beneficial to me. I was very skeptical at first. However, when I felt the first wave or release during the "wall sit" exercise, I knew this was going to be unlike anything I have ever done! My colleagues and I use to joke that we all needed a good "release" to rid ourselves of the stress that we encountered as mental health professionals, working mothers, etc. I really feel like something very heavy and very deep was lifted out of me on Sunday and I feel stronger. I am less irritable and feel more balanced.

I have wanted to experience a TRE workshop with Joanne for awhile but the idea of involuntary tremors in my body seemed a lot different then what I am used too. From the start of the workshop I could tell Joanne's knowledge about stress relief was both acdemic ( physical reactions of the body) and from personal experiences. It was fun to go back to my student brain and  re-learn really important aspects of what stress does to us physically and emotionally. When we began to practice the techniques which lead up to tremors, i didn't realize how fatigue my body really was, I was surprised how much sensation i was feeling. When we came to the ground and I felt my first tremor a lot of emotional stuff arose, sensations of calm and warmth came over my body and I could really feel tension releasing throughout my body. TRE is something you have to experience to understand, it was truly enjoyable and reminded me of what tension release feels like in the body. As a teacher, I can see the real health benefits of this practice and would recommend it to anyone

Three years ago, my stress levels at work made it so that my baseline depression, which I’ve had my whole life, worsened.  At the same time, my thyroid tanked and added a psychotic element to my diagnosis.  Medication has helped tremendously, but talk therapy can only do so much, especially because it involves talking to another person, and it’s been very hard for me to stand being around other people.  Because modern medicine couldn’t meet all of my needs, and because I still wanted to be an active participant in my healing process, I decided to give TRE a chance.  It didn’t involve talking about my feelings to a complete stranger, and it focused on the physical aspect of the mind-body connection, something that I was already familiar with from a martial arts perspective.   About 10 months ago, I started attending TRE classes , and since then I’ve become a lot calmer, my really bad days aren’t quite as bad, and I find I cry a lot less frequently.  I’m calmer in social situations and have even been able to resume talk therapy.

I wanted to thank you for the information, technique and experience of TRE. I have a strong feeling it has changed my life for the better. I feel lighter and can breathe deeper. Since my mastectomy, I haven't breathed deeper...and I love it

I participated in Joanne and Rebekah's Yoga for Trauma Recovery Immersion last year. I'm a 200hr RYT and work in acute mental health as a Recreation Therapist.  This immersion has positively affected my personal and professional life, providing me with the skills and confidence necessary to bring this type of programing to my facility.  Joanne and Rebekah supported me in the process of beginning such programming in my clinical setting.  I have begun to educate peers in my workplace about how trauma lives in our body and how this type of work helps the people we serve.

I recently has breast cancer surgery and decided to take Joanne’s Core Release and Restore class.  After class, for the first time since the surgery, I had relief from pain in the area around the surgery and I could breathe deeper than I could before the surgery.  Joanne’s gentle approach was compassionate and made me feel safe
